The plaster manufacturers cannot keep up with the demand. Makers of Hydrazzo and Diamond Brite for instance, are 4-6 weeks out to fulfill orders.

We waited 6 weeks for glass tile that normally takes 1 week.

Supply chain in my industry is wide spread on ALL products.

Sorry to highjack but hoping for a reply by Mystic Pools. Our pool was dug last week in Central NJ. Any idea if Sunstone Select is also backordered for this long? We are already realizing techo bloc backorder issues and are trying to decide if we should use different pool decking options such as stamped concrete instead of pavers. Mystic pools - do you know if suppliers of Indiana limestone are also backordered by months? Also curious if Indiana limestone is durable enough for a salt water pool in NJ?

4-6 weeks on Sunstone Select. Parent company is CL Industries that also makes Hydrazzo and Krsytalkrete plaster.

Techo Bloc 8 weeks last time I checked a month a go.

I'm not a fan of stamped concrete in any form or shape.

Indiana Limestone at the moment is available. We generally set the 1" thick material wet, which is an appreciable difference in price over anything dry laid. We will be dry laying

1 1/2" Limestone on an upcoming project.

I have no issues with any materials on our projects when using the salt systems. We have projects back 10+ years that show no signs of wear. Sealers are not to be used on Indiana Limestone.

One more question mystic pools. What would say is the surface material most similar to hydrazzo? Looks like we may need to go a different route!

Durazzo, is a polished line of plaster from SGM who also makes Diamond Brite.

You'll still be in the same predicament on wait time unless a plaster contractor stocked up over the winter.

We don't use Pebble Tec products, but I'll bet they are also backed up. I'm not sure if they have a polished line.

Our pool contractor was also unable to get Hydrazzo - they got the plain plaster and dyed it themselves. even getting the plaster stuff was an issue

Does plaster have as long of a shelf life? Mystic pools, do you have an opinion on plaster vs hydrazzo and whether it is worth waiting on hydrazzo?

Are speaking in terms of long time storage of material? Or, life span of standard plaster?

I think the Hydrazzo is worth the wait. It's a great finish and you'll be happy you waited once it's completed.

What was your color choice? We use a lot of Hatteras Gray

We are waiting on Hydrazzo and the distributor is telling our PB that they don't know if and when the hydrazzo will show up on the truck. So, we wait weekly to hear what's on the truck. Just doesn't sound right to me. Is anyone getting any hydrazzo orders filled or a timeline on production and filling orders?

Dean—what color hydrazzo did you get? And what part of the country are you in?

We are using French rivierA. We are near atlanta. It’s going in next week🤞

The hydrazzo is in but I’m concerned that it isn’t being taken care of properly. The pb had to come back after installation to fix some stone work and now there is a lot of debris in the pool (pieces of grout abs sand). I’m worried if I brush it, it will get scratched. What should I use to remove the debris? Is there a robotic vacuuming I can buy? I know I have to be careful about what I use so it doesn’t scratch. They have a start up poop company working on chemicals but they don’t seem to come very often. Now that we are finished, my pb has been harder to reach and I can’t get any answers. Does anyone have any advice?

The start up company should be there daily for the first few days post filling, to test and balance the water and brush the surface. And then at the very least every other untilt the 2 week start up is complete.

Daily brushing is required at least twice during the day more is better.

Not surprised PB is off the grid. He's probably paid up but the project is still his responsibility.

We got it in, but it is really mottled. We are meeting with the builder to see what we can do. I’ll se d some pictures. It ended up being Maui midnight not French Riviera.

We like how the color turned out. It’s just the mottling that looks really bad. Attaching pics. Any thoughts on how to fix it?

Have the water tested for chlorine, pH, total alkalinity and calcium hardness.

You may have an elevated calcium level which is causing this discoloration.

Plaster contractors often use calcium in the mix to speed up the curing process. The down side is if they use too much and it has an effect on the finish.

Calcium is best at 250-300 ppm.

Jack's Magic has a stain test kit to determine certain stains on surface and how to treat it. They probably have a dealer in your area who can perform this test or at the very least their tech support can guide you.

Your pool is very mottled. It's unfortunate. Usually the polishing makes for a nice finish. I suspect the 2 week after care was not attended to properly.

Thanks for getting back to me. They are going to drain the pool and redo it. I’m not really sure what that entails. Does it mean they need to jackhammer everything out?

They do not have to chip out the old material. The surface is prepped by cutting away some of the existing plaster 8" below the tile, around any wall fittings, drains, light fittings, etc... This allows for "feathering in" the new material.

Prior to new application, a bond coat must be applied over the old plaster to allow for proper adhesion between the old and the new material. It's rolled on with a heavy nap paint roller. It's a specialty formulated material for this application.

Nothing will change with your start up procedure and chemical balancing post filling.
