Sunday is Bloom Day

Is miserably hot here, and the air conditioner is on the fritz. Our regular heating and cooling people are not working today since it's Sunday. But the blooms outside are pretty today.

Twentieth Century Fox - This is my best budded and branched registered red this year. Scapes have four- and five-way branching with bud counts in the 20. It's registered as a late, but it certainly isn't here. Last year it was an early, and this year I would say it's a mid.

Busy Being Fabulous had a nice quartet today. As I told Julia the other day, this one is much shorter than registered for me and has never had more than 8 buds per scape. But is a pretty thing! I think it needs a new place in the garden and both spring and fall grub preventer.

I am definitely hitting a red mode this year, Twentieth Century Fox and Buddy's Red Head look great. Busy Being Fabulous looks good. How do you like Sparkling Giants? That is on my wish list. Flash of Mischief looks good too, I will have to look it up to see double form, but I suspect I would prefer it like this too.

Nancy - I am not that impressed by Sparkling Giants. The scapes were cut off last year when I received it, and it didn't rebloom last year. The bloom this year is not nearly as large as advertised, and the scapes are much, much shorter. Amethyst Prism is much larger in my garden, and I think I like it better than Sparkling Giants.

Busy Being Fabulous is one i would pick. They are all nice but that one stands out. Hope you get the AC back working.

I always like reds so I particularly like 20th Century Fox and Busy Being Fabulous. CoreValues and Buddys Red Head are both pretty. Nile Princess is my favorite today.

Like everybody else here I love Twentieth Century Fox, its ready for a ”screen debut” LOL LOL. I like Flash of Mischief, i wouldnt mind seeing it as a double! Your PS X JJF seedling is putting on a marvelous show. are you going to register it?

Kay - Nile Princess is doing pretty well here. It's increased pretty well and has a moderate amount of buds this year. I do like the pattern on it, and the colors.

Sherry - I won't know if I will be registered the purple UF seedling until after I divide it and line it out. The bud count seems lower this year, maybe because the clump has gotten so large. I do like it, and I will probably always grow it.

I hope you can improve performance on Busy Being Fabulous. Even though it's not one of my "round" favorites, the pattern and color are very appealing (if they hold in the heat). It really caught my eye today..............Maryl

OK, if my air is out in this heat, I am making reservations somewhere!! I hope you get relief soon. The reds are indeed pretty. And pretty clump shots of Core Values and Julie Newmar. That seedling clump is impressive.

What a time for AC to be out! The heat is bad enough but the humidity is what is killing us. I hope it gets fixed soon.

Beautiful photos today! Flash of Mischief is gorgeous as a single. I looked at its picture in the database and I would prefer it as a single too. That's a beautiful pattern on Nile Princess. I also like Core Values. Your seedling is nice--love the green throat.

I do hope your AC fixed quickly. I went outside briefly early this morning, and it felt very nice, a little chill in the air. Maybe it won't be quite so humid today. Thanks your your take on Sparkling Giants.
