I've tried to buy both English Lavender and, this year, Royal Invitation, with no luck. So you can tell from that that they are my favorites. You were going to move English Lavender a few years back to see if it would grow better for you. Did you and did it?...........Maryl

Maryl - Grubs continued to eat English Lavender in its new spot. That's why it never multiplied. It was never an issue of tenderness, as I originally thought. Last fall I applied BT grub killer in early October, probably a few weeks too late. Anyway one of the fans did benefit, and that's the one that is very tall and well-budded with those three blooms in the pic today. The other two scapes are shorter, but not as short as they have been in the past. and they have more buds too. If I can ever get the grubs under control, I know it will multiply.

Did you try buying Royal Invitation directly from Karol Emmerich?

I do like Lillian's Thin Ice and put it on my list along with some near white round forms. Cowgirl Spurs is one large clump and all those buds..wow.. Seems to do really well. Beautiful post.

Julia - Actually that's not a clump of Cowgirl Spurs. That's several two to four fan divisions in the line-out bed. I love Lillian's Thin Ice. It does well for me and Avedon, but Kate and kay have had problems with it multiplying.

I thought that was one big clump of Cowgirl Spurs, but still, it is really impressive! Love Absolute Ripper and Core Values. Great blue eye on the Untamed Heart seedling, even if just for today. Pretty, soft pink in that last seedling is so nice.

I always enjoy your English Lavender. So pretty. And, of course, there is LTI looking good in your garden! Mine is still blooming but only two scapes. The Royal Invitation clump is quite a looker!

We love English Lavender but it didn't like our climate. It is a lovely daylily. Your blue-eyed daylily is amazing! Core Values is very nice too. That's a nice looking clump of Cowgirl Spurs.

Debra: Just on the off chance you haven't considered it, have you tried growing English Lavender in a pot at any point? I know you don't want to get into my pot situation, but I wondered if you had in the past.........RE: Royal Invitation: I don't think Emmerich claims to be rust free. Maryl - I have never grown English Lavender in a pot and have no reason to do so since grubs get in my pots too.

Emmerich has not had rust in several years. I've bought several plants from her and have never gotten rust on one.

Debtra, DebraEnglish Lavender is a beauty. That is a really pretty picture of Absolute ripper. I always love Fighting Fire., and that is a lovely shot of it, Royal Invitation is very pretty, but the winner is that seedline with the blue eye! What a bloom that is.

Thanks kay! Unfortunately by the end of the day the seedlng's eye was a blue purple and not that startling blue of the morning. I'll keep watching it to see how it does.

It is very striking. And, Debra, I too hate it when they open late because, of course, the lighting is wrong for getting the best photos. I know it is my fault because I never really learned to use the camera well, but there it is.
