Does anyone know what these things growing on my lemon tree are?

My lemon tree is a little over a year old and started growng these maybe 4 or 5 months ago. I’m not sure what they are. I took one off and its like a little clump of sugar. When I rolled it between my fingers the peices broke apart into separate granules.

Where are you located? Is this growing outdoors? In a pot or in the ground? Are you in a citrus-growing region?

Maybe liquid sap coming out from the bites of tiny plant-eating insects.

That spiralized form is one of the possible signs of ACP (see the header picture) which is often a precursor of Greening. https://www2.ipm.ucanr.edu/agriculture/citrus/asian-citrus-psyllid/

So I would contact your local extension service (it's mandatory in most citrus production states - FL, CA, TX, and many other states with limited citrus have quarantines zones for ACP/Greening.
