About what? The TV is too high , does the FP function? What is it you want us to critique exactly

I think its a nice room. I would remove the items on the hearth, and hide the cord for the TV.

Very nice, a bit cluttery for my taste though, nowhere to set anything down/flat surface and agree with the hearth.

My husband says it looks like a range hood over the FP, lol!

However, he would happily plop himself down in this room and never leave pretty much.

I don’t like the big copper overhang in the living room. It’s very big and bold and overpowers the room—and I love copper. That would be fabulous on an outdoor fireplace.

I too hate the range hood/vent/whatever it is. It was here when we bought it. I would like to paint and take that thing down and change floors when money is sufficient.
Just was curious of others opinions on the decor side of things. Or even opinions on what color to change floor and paint walls.
I recently put all that on the hearth. I like it but didn’t know if it was a bit much and a hit or miss. Thanks everyone for commenting! I appreciate any and all feedback!

A glass coffee table would be nice! It would take your eyes off the fireplace hood and the glass would still leave the living room with an open feel. It would be a focal point. Your eyes will be drawn to it. It would balance out the room.

I would love to get a coffee table but we have a 6 year old boy and a big boxer pup. We need that extra open space.

You should still get a coffee table. It’s weird not to have one. We have three kids and a dog and still have a table. Get a storage ottoman on wheels if you need to and put stuff in it and move it out of the way when not on use bit get something.

Can you bring the blue of the curtains down to the sofa and the TV side of the room? Or change out the blue curtains for a color you love.

The decor items are too "big box store" for my taste, but if that's all you have the budget for... At least remove the cluttery ones off the hearth. You might sell that copper hood for enough money to repair the fireplace behind it. Looks like it is still intact underneath the hood. You could build up the surrounding trim to give more dimension to it. Lowering TV over a lower/wider credenza would be helpful. Unless the windows face the street and match with all the other street side ones, I'd encourage you to use bamboo shades under drapes to add texture. I think I prefer drapes that match the wall color. Increase the color quotient with a rug, pillows and art.

Here you go. The prime reason for decorating a home.

Gotta agree the hearth needs editing. Simple is always nicer to me with both hearths and mantels.

Agree on clearing hearth. Sorry just looks piecemeal. I like the art on sides of fireplace. But I would replace the one on the right with one that has similar colors to other art piece. I would remove that range hood but be ready for bad news on that fireplace. Probably doesn’t draw well and it shows. Do a new surround in a style that feels right.

I'd probably replace the dark chair in the right corner with a lovely floor lamp. You need more light in that corner. Also, add a couple of plants for a bit of softening.

A little mock up to help you visualize life without the copper hood.

Remove runner from TV console and add low wicker tray. Add small round wicker storage ottoman for dual purpose piece. Add new taupe straight side shade to lamp or switch lamp out. Add calm art over new white fireplace surround. Add accent chair to tie in drapery panel color. Add a couple toss pillows to repeat teal color. I might add woven shade behind drapery for more texture too. Think I’ll try that. Bbl

I added woven shade. I couldn’t remove blinds or whatever is on the windows but would look better without them. I also added Traveler Palm to corner. You could take things a step at a time as funds allow but with a game plan you could take this room up a level quite easily!

This is the round ottoman I tucked in your mock up. You could stow throws or toys inside it.

Is it real copper? if so, it's worth some money.

however, it does not go with ANYTHING in that room. These canopy hoods look better w/more of a mid century or modern type of vibe. something w/color, or wood and black.

you have none of that which is why it does not work in that room.

    sell it.

    redo the fireplace

I'd lower your tv and bring in a wood console (longer than what's there) just to give some warm contrast to all of that beige and white.
