Kitchen Trends 1) diff island base color & 2) brass v. stainless pulls

I am redoing my kitchen due to a burst pipe (back in Feb-ugh) and have purchased a gorgeous neutral quartzite, pictured below, and want to create a neutral kitchen that doesn't scream white and grey. This stone has a creamy background and a vein of brown running through it (which is a nice connection to other colors in my house and near the kitchen).

Questions:

1) Island base color: I've had a brown granite counter with an island topped with walnut butcher block for the last 11 years. I'm thinking of painting the base of the new island a navy blue and keeping this stone on top. I think butcher block is too dark. Is the trend of navy/blue painted islands on the way out?

2) Brass vs. stainless pulls/cabinet hardware: In my current kitchen, I went with stainless plain pulls and knobs. I have a traditional nickel faucet from Rohl (I think it's this one: https://houseofrohl.com/edwardian-single-hole-kitchen-faucet-with-lever-handles-and-sidespray-polished-chrome-with-metal-lever-handle-u-4766apc-2/) that I want to update. Do you mix metals in the kitchen, i.e. perhaps nickel or stainless faucet and brass cabinet hardware? My style is transitional on the traditional side.

Nice slab! Yes, Navy cabinets would look great with this combo. We did a kitchen for a recent client with Hale Navy base cabinets and Chantilly lace upper/tall cabinets with satin brass pulls. See a few pix below:

Thank you, Sabrina. Beautiful kitchen. Is that faucet Rohl brand? I have written down that exact navy blue from reading on Houzz earlier today. I will look it up! I have a beautiful Barbara Barry drum shade lamp for over my table that has satin chrome chain links hanging it from the ceiling; I love it and hope to use it again but I am loving brass pendant lights. Think I can mix metals that way?

PS I love the incorporation of artwork as a major part of the kitchen design. Also, that table is gorgeous.

@Jenny, the faucet is a Brizo Artesso. Less expensive than the Rohl but just as pretty, IMO.

You could mix the metals, since--as you see above--we're doing stainless appliances with the brass hardware/faucets. Alternatively, you could see if you could take your lighting fixtures to a lighting repair place to see if they would swap out the chain for you, assuming that's the only part that's metal.

@jck910: thanjs!! The perimeter cabinets will be shaker style and likely a white color TBD.
