Crispy grass and crispy new leaves on many plants here. It was peak peony time and the bloooms quickly appeared and then went within a day or two. We finally got some rain and cooler temps today thank goodness. That was a tough and serious heat wave.

OUCH! Prairie_northrose, that sounded bad! You know, you wait for a whole year for these peonies and then they were gone in no time.... anyway, I am glad that the heat is gone now!

Now I am just waiting on the hail, we often get a couple hail storms per summer. I’ve started strategically planting things in anticipation of hail. That reminds me I ought to move my begonia baskets to a different spot!

Prairie_northrose, I am so sorry to hear this! As if the heatwave was not bad enough.... when I lived in Calgary, that was the thing that I dreaded the most - hailstorms! I remembered that I had a garden party one day on the last day of July, then the next day my yard was literally FLATTENED by that awful hailstorm.... I was completely devastated. So I feel your pain! I hope that you didn't get hit in the end.... take care!
