Today as I was weeding, I found this seedling coming up next to the base of my cypress tree. I managed to get it out with almost all of the roots intact.

Reminds me of Acer platanoides ‘Rezek’. ‘Rezek’ and ‘Lilliputian’ are on the property but a good 50+ feet away. They have never been pruned and none of their plant material has been in this part of the yard (right next to the pond). 

Acer saccharum ‘Monumentale’ is sited approx. 20’ away. Acer palmatum ‘Ukigumo’, as well. 

Any thoughts? Is this a common Acer variety that I’m just not familiar with at such an immature stage?
