i have never planted a garden indoors ... your words.. i have grown plenty of potted plants indoors ...

the usual problem with plants that can get tall ... is that a single light source above a tall plant.. may not provide the light to leaves below the canopy ... so you will probably need multiple lights ... and by that time.. you may be growing the most expensive tomatoes on the face of the earth ...

that said.. its a challenge.. and if this is all about the challenge.. go for it ...

i have no experience with led's so i will leave that to others ...

I raise and breed zinnias as a hobby, and grow two generations of zinnias indoors under fluorescent lights (and another two generations outdoors). I started this back in 2005 well before the time of LED technology. At that time Home Depot was selling two-bulb T8 fluorescent shoplights for less than $5 each and the 4-foot bulbs were about $2 each. Four shoplights would fit in a 2' x 4' steel shelf and provide a lot of light for plants. The fluorescent bulbs were rated for 20,000 hours, and I am still using a lot of my original bulbs. This was a typical shelf of zinnias this Winter which is lit by 8 4-foot T8 fluorescent bulbs (which cost about $2 each). You can click on the photo to see a larger version.

LED technology is current, although I think fluorescent technology might still be competitive from the standpoint of cost. It is for me because I already have a lot of T8 lighting on steel shelves for indoor zinnia gardening. I clicked on your LED link, and didn't readily see any pricing information. I get the impression that there are a lot of cost options involved in an indoor gardening setup. I recommend the book Gardening Under Lights. There is a lot you need to know about gardening under lights.
