food to be added to one corner of the bin: merely a suggestion as a starting point that is easy to remember. The next feeding would be next to that etc. etc. I guess it's to make it easy on to worms to get to the food w/o having to travel across the bin and have the food processed ASAP.

IMHO the WF360 is an OK size for a small household. If I remember correctly, the individual trays are only 5 or 6 inches high. It is widely suggested to use a few inches of shredded (news)paper as a top layer to try keep flies, fruitflies, gnats etc away. That's already about 1/2 the volume except the top tray; the domed cover allow some additional space for piling shredded paper.

Feed worms once a week...rest of the bin is not much higher: Just curious, how many worms did you start with? Once a week is good to start until the worms are settled in the bin and bedding. You can add new food once the old batch is gone, like 3 to 5 days, depending. Better less than too much, especially during the hot weather. Decomposing food adds heat to the bin.

All good suggestions above . I also use the factory 360. Been doing this for a number of years. I believe I started with around 1500 worms although they say at least 1000 = 1 lb. Most people dont give the worms a chance or put way too much food in the beginning and therefor disband. If you have enough worms as mentioned you will need to start a second tray . Worms should move up especially if there no longer is food in the bottom. Once you have been doing this long enough you will start using 3 or 4 trays.and usually every month you will rotate and by the time the bottom tray becomes the top tray it time to remove the vermicompost. You can put together a sifter for the compost . I made a 2'x3' sifter out of 2x4' lay that over a wheel barrow and sift the compost thru that. and save all the worms to go back into your tray.

Thats not the reason I commented today though, several months ago I started adding worms larger than the redworms , euro worms for fishing and today noticed there quite a number of new worms which Im hoping will be from the euros.
