1960s bathroom refresh

Our bathroom has vintage blue and white speckled tiles throughout (on the floor and in the shower). I am looking for ideas for paint and countertop colors to refresh the space. I'm considering Benjamin Moore China White for the walls and White Dove for the trim and cabinets, but wonder if there's a better option that would add a bit more color. As to the countertops, again white or another color? We would replace the sink as well.

Could you use a pale blue for the cabinetry to tie in the floors, but then white counter and sink?

That looks nice! We plan to paint the existing vanity and replace only the countertop. Specific color suggestions? I have a sample of Benjamin Moore Palladium blue or I could try to match the tile. Our local designer also raised the possibility of an earthy rust color like BM Potter's Clay for the walls, but I wondered about using it for the vanity instead. Too much contrast?

I love the sink you have. I would rethink changing that out, and play up the vintage feel. Love the tiles too.

My mom's bath was that sixties powder blue. You can't go wrong with white or cream. My sister in law added Chocolate accents (towels and shower curtain) and beige walls to her blue bath. I think a deep navy or blue gray would be nice on the vanity but harder to get the right shade. Would you go with the sink color or those accent tiles?

I would go with the accent tiles, only because I had planned to replace the countertop and sink. Unfortunately I don't have any extra tiles that I can bring to a paint shop. Any thoughts on counter color? I'm thinking plain white Corian-style or quartz. Or I could keep the sink and replace the laminate. Definitely more affordable! Would another color work better than white in that case?

Ideally you want to create a cohesive feel throughout your home.

What does the rest of the home look like? What is the style of the home and your furnishings. Is this part of a larger renovation? What color is the trim and walls in the rest of the home?

Doing one room without consideration for the rest of the home often leaves that room feeling disjointed.

So glad you are keeping your ’60s tile! I like the sink, and if you do as well and it coordinates with the tile you can work with it. A white vanity is timeless, and a gray/blue paint would look nice. I would suggest removing the vent cover near the floor, cleaning it and spray painting it either white or the wall color. I just did this myself on ceiling vents and it’s super easy to get the vents looking like new, particularly if they are odd sizes that can’t be purchased off the shelf.

Thank you! That was my initial thought (the gray-blue paint on the walls and a white vanity). Good idea about the vents! The trick is picking which shade would work with both the floor and the sink without making it too blue ... if you have specific color suggestions, please let me know!
