Z7 - Taking cuttings from Sweet Potato Vine

Once I take SPV cuttings to put in water to root, is it okay to rinse the whole plant in water including leaves to make sure any pests is washed off? I have a good reason for asking. I know the plant wilts for a day after cutting then picks up, but would washing the leaves of a freshly cut vine hurt it?

Have any of you taken cuttings to grow indoors (in potting soil) over winter for planting in the spring?

I have access to a lot of SPV next door and I'd like to get many vines started in one pot to set outdoors next spring.

Suggestions?
