These garden shots are gorgeous. I love your stone path in the first shot! A lot of mine are two to three weeks late this time. Usually mine are just about done now, but a lot are just now starting to bloom.

Hi Everyone , thanks so much for the lovely comments about the gardens here . The stone pathway is the result of having dogs and clay soil. When I first started gardening we were getting what I thought was a normal amount of rain . We had big dogs and when it rained they would race to the house and drag in oodles of mud on their feet so that was the impetus to figure out something that would maybe , just maybe reduce the amount of mud being dragged into the house. . It has worked for the most part . The difficult part is trying to keep it weed free as the weed seeds lodge in the cracks . I don't like to spray anything because of the daylilies so I have to pull the weeds ( time consuming) and done every so often through the season . I am trying to get moss established in the cracks which means I definitely cannot spray the weeds for fear of killing the moss.

MaryL the Black Hole is a small pond that I keep running to help out the local frogs as we usually are in a drought from May to October here . NOT this year however .

Lilykate It is the weirdest thing . We have had more rain this season so far than we have had from May to September the last 4 or 5 years yet the daylilies are shorter this year . Not sure if this is because we had really warm weather in April ( temps more like June ) and then dropped into cold weather ( more like March ) for the month of May and then high temps like August the month of June . It has been the most mixed up weather here all season so far. Nothing at all like what we have gotten used to over the last 5 years.

Debra, sounds like your weather has been weird too . I am wondering if my daylilies will be bloomed out by August or whether this might mean more rebloom on plants that have never rebloomed before . Time will tell I guess . The other odd thing is many of the plants are shorter than normal. Go figure.......I cannot understand this . Here is a pic of the rain from yesterday at noon . There is about an inch of rain covering the walkway.

and here is an image from the other side of the backyard gate heading from the chicken pen (chicken pen on the right veggie garden on the left) . I like looking at daylilies more than the mud in the chicken pen at this point .

Last image is what will be an extension of the garden bed near the veggie garden ( also on the left in this picture near chicken pen ) for daylilies that I am moving as where they are located now is much too shady to produce good blooms . I am in the process of prepping a bed where the green house used to be for more seedlings that I HAVE to get planted if the rain would ever stop . Thus the reason I am so far behind in getting images posted here .

Absolutely Beautiful and shows a lot of hard work went into it! I love the whole thing, the stonework, the daylilies, the purple flowers [wow] and the pond.

We are having quite the rainy summer and some of mine are much shorter than normal, but others are taller. Must have to do with the amount of sun.

Thanks Brad , oh, the purple flowers are Larkspur ( self seeding annual ) I get purple , double purple , pale pink, dark pink with white striping , all from self seeding and self mutations of the plants . Want some seeds? I can send some to you .

Wow, a sea of flowers! Gorgeous gardens. Mine started maybe a week or so earlier too. You mentioned your daylilies are shorter this year, mine are too! Some that have always been good height. I think it's the weird weather, like too hot in the spring, not the rains, because we hardly had any, just a couple inches in May, that's all for all spring..
