trying to follow your outline but maybe if you take the overhead w the lounge shown and pencil in the various alterations it can be better understood. Your space isnt that big to make a kitchenette beyond a kitchen but zones are important certainly.

Yes exactly - my idea for the kitchenette was to replace a standard kitchen (so that the main messy/noisy parts of the kitchen are shut away, without having to also shut away whoever is cooking). But in reality, it might bring the cooking too close to the living space.

I'm not sure I understand what a kitchenette is. Do you just mean a separate galley kitchen? We recently purchased a home where the previous owners only two years ago took down a wall and converted the galley kitchen into an open concept. I hate open concepts and we are putting the wall back up and reverting to a galley kitchen. I don't want the odor, grease, and visual eye sore of a sink of dirty dishes consuming the rest of my living space.

@Kendrah sounds like you have a similar layout to me! My idea was to use the current galley kitchen as the utility (with freezer, dishwasher, washer, dryer, large sink, storage) and then add a row kitchen units into the current dining room which would have a fridge, small sink, hob and oven, and then a island for prep/eating.

I'm reluctant to spend £££ taking the wall down, but my current galley kitchen feels too small. So my idea wouldn't help odor (as the cooking is done in the open room) but dishes and appliance noise would hopefully be shut away
