@party_music50 so each year the same plant arises in the spring?! So this might imply that you get blooms earlier than I who grows it from seed?

It means little for us as these plants look their best (in terms of open flowers) early in the morning ie between 6 am and say...8 am.

(I was expecting this plant to have the mixed colour for its flowers but clearly this is not the case)

The time of day that the blooms open depends on the exposure. They'll open later if the sun is still shining on them than if they are where they are in a shadow earlier in the afternoon. Same with how early they close.

@rouge21_gw (CDN Z5b/6a), I'm not certain when they would start to bloom from seed here because it's been so many years since I started them from seed! These tubers are growing along the bottom of a bay window on the north side of the house, so they get almost no sunlight. I recall that the first blooms opened in mid July, but we've had an exceptionally rainy and dark July.

I don't have any blooms on any of mine yet.

...but I did see some this morning. Yay!
