I think one way to tell if it's an invasive honeysuckle is the stem will be hollow in the middle if you break it. New York state has 12 species of non native, invasive Lonicera.

If you look closely at how the opposite leaves are placed along the long stems, you can start to recognize honeysuckles and their close relatives like Diervilla and Symphoricarpos a lot easier.
