Crepe myrtle issues?

is there a techinque anybody here uses to get rid of the suckers that grow at the base of a crepe myrtle? No matter how many times I cut they always come back

Also I noticed that my CM leaves have a black mold that I never seen before. IMO its very unsightly, Is there a way to treat that? Ive attached pics, TIA

As for the suckers, just continue removing them.......the sooner the better after they appear.

This tree is most often a really tall shrub. It wants to have multiple trunks, hence the suckers. Removal is the remedy. IMO, tree-form crepe myrtle has an upright growth. Pruning is done only to remove suckers, or to limb-up so it can be walked beneath.
