An acquaintance turned her dining room into a play room for her kids when they were little. Not the most attractive room but it kept the kids stuff in one space and it was easy for her to keep an eye on things. Some alternatives might be a music room, a wine/cocktail lounge, a yoga/meditation studio or a library.

I love the thought of a cocktail room. We may hold off on that until we can afford to rip out the carpet and put the LVP throughout the house. I was thinking of doing like a slightly more formal sitting room. I can’t decide if accent chairs would look better on the back wall or the wall with the windows. And I wanted to add a little more storage and start transitioning to more farmhouse style furniture, but I wasn’t sure if a white sideboard would totally clash with the big entertainment center we have in there already.
