hello, they are the main rooms that people coming in the house will see so need to be a bit comfortable and elegant. Yes they will be functional. I was thinking of a sofa, fireplace not sure what else,on the lines of a living room and main room where you This is a terraced house and I live in Malta Europe. The style maybe something traditional or Mediterranean. no kids, no pets. hobbies reading, watching tv etc etc. rest of the house if pretty much similar but less stone decorations. I would not like the modern style for this house either. I want to have two rooms that when people come in from the door will be impressed sort of but comfortable for us to enjoy when we re on our own as well. Thank you

In the first room I would suggest a very comfortable leather sofa, gold or silver mirror colored furniture, a traditional handmade rug for both spaces. Large artwork with some lighting over the top in both spaces. Possibly a marble formal dining room set in the second room. It depends on what the rest f your home looks like. Entertaining areas with very elegant yet durable furniture would make both spaces look very nice.

Also a floor plan would be helpful in furniture layout ideas.

I see a moroccan themed room with low sofas with tons of pattern, A few poufs scattered about, large print art, Plants. However, I am not sure if you bought the house this way or built in the arches, coves, etc. More info. would be helpful

Oh just love these rooms! Go Moroccan! And it’s the fashion! I would integrate the rooms into one, a couch, comfortable chairs large cushions on the floor! Two beautiful colourful rugs on the floor and a long solid coffee table connecting the two rooms placed below the centre arch.I would use sheer white curtains behind the drapes, and maybe some glass shelving in front of the centre of the window with some beautiful coloured glass bottles and vases etc.On my facebook site essentia interior design, you will see some cushions and Moroccan decor that would look great. Some low timber sheving in both rooms and maybe a few floating timber shelves, and a print or painting in each room on the walls with lots of colour. you can have lots of fun with candles and lanterns in silver! As the room has one window I would paint the walls and ceiling white the to show off the colours in your furnishings! You can then use these rooms to relax and read, or share a meal on cushions around the long coffee table, good luck wish those rooms were mine!!

I think the Moroccan idea is a good one! I'm seeing big, colorful chairs and a round table.

Not these colors, but this type of setup:

Elegant but comfortable, hmm.. With such dramatic architectural elements, I'd go for a more contemporary look. Not too modern, a little romantic, but smooth lines and not too much frills. (and I think the draperies are too much, ivory sheers would look softer)

Silvergrey, lavender or mauve, ivory white, powder pink or old rose, pale seablue and some dark walnut and plum/eggplant/teal accents.
