I love these giant moths. A few years ago we had a huge invasion of them. The last couple years I have only seen a few at a time. They are so cool to watch with their giant proboscis.

Love them, hate the hornworms. How come I always see way more hornworms than these moths?

Actually, since we started planting onions and garlic by our tomatoes, I haven't seen nearly as many hornworms.

Until this year, I was unclear of the Sphinx , but after researching I am now seeing the difference in the types and phases. Whew.

The most preferred food for breeding adults as well as their baby birds, like downy woodpeckers, Baltimore orioles, bluebirds, flycatchers, and sparrows are fat, juicy caterpillars – like the tomato hornworms.

The other part is sadly the parasite wasp lays it's eggs on hornworms. But, that's nature.

I don't know what the name of the hosta is. Most of my hosta have a name tag buried in the ground when I planted them. I tried leaving the tags sticking out a little but they would get raked up and lost during spring clean up so now they are unknown unless I dig them to divide.

I have an older Cannon t5i rebel with 3 different lenses. It is a great little camera. I had a Cannon previously and it was such a good camera that I bought another cannon. The thing I love about both of these cameras is that the viewing window opens and tilts so I can hold it over my head or below my knees and still see the picture I am framing. My first one died after 10 yrs. and I am hoping this one lasts as long.
