Your not going tp get light and airy with large puffy furniture. Is it new? Everything is the same color. Also all the items on wall are hung too high. TV is too high for comfortable viewing. FP unfortunately is overpowering the room. AND you do not want Joanna Gaines feeling lol

The furniture is not new, we got it when we built the house in 2014. we live in the mountains, so initially we were doing more of a rustic look, but it got to be too dingy and brown for me. We just had walls painted and put up deer heads and clock last week. The clock is like 3 inches higher than I intended, but my husband isnt so thrilled about moving them 🤪 the tv has always been on the fireplace, i thought that was better than in front of a window blocking the light? ive always admired Joanna Gaines’ work. I’ll try to post a picture thats my inspiration.

Anything above the couch should be 6” above it. Your stuff is too close to the ceiling. Maybe some light colored pillows or throws to offset the dark furniture until you can buy new light colored furniture.

It looks like one big brown room. Your stuff is hung too high. If you can’t replace the furniture, get a pretty rug with color, whitewash the fireplace, new cute coffee table. You have some nice stuff, the clock, the lanterns the tall vase, the lamp.

Decorate below the door and window frames. 5-5-75 is a good basic rule of thumb for most situations. Center hanging pieces 5' above the floor, or hang them 5" above a piece of furniture, and keep their size within 75% of the furniture's width. It is worth the money to have TV connections moved so your room comes together. I am not a fan of oversized battery operated clocks from the big box stores as decor. I would get rid of the sofa on the left and put TV there, on or above a credenza that is 25% wider than the TV.. Can't see the second head mount, but I think you can hang both deer heads above the mantel, one 5" above the mantel and the other with it's horns 5" below the line where the wall and ceiling meet. Assuming they're about the same size, you might leave 10-12" between them. Would do paper cutouts and tape them up to get the balance right.

Wait until you can trade some brown........ for something lighter. Yes, kids and three dogs make it more difficult, unless SLIP COVERED.

I wish this let you respond to comments individually, my thought on my colors were to do white with natural wood brown color and light blue accents with some greenery like a fiddle leaf in the corner. do you do a coffee table if furniture reclines? should i add curtains in a soft off white or linen color? i have been looking for a light blue rug like in picture i posted, but end up disliking every one just because i dont know which rug will tie it all together. im afraid to whitewash stone fireplace just in fear of hating it. ill post a pic of one i love but i think it is limestone.

I would get an area rug, coffee table, side tables, wall art on empty wall .Check Target for wooden coffee table

There yea go. All needs to be lightened. You could keep the couches, I know kids and dogs, and then work on everything else

I would buy a nice console cabinet put Tv on left wall on it. Put the chair next to the fireplace, couch goes where chair is. Then decorate like your photos, don’t ever put a TV in front of a window.

These are some limewash colors, as you can tell by my living room i tend to lean brown, so I like the riposo beige, but i dont know if that would get my fireplace to be more like the picture shown or nube gray?? I like the idea of limewash because i can wash it off if I dont like it, even though that would be a daunting task.

The fireplace will look great as is if you take the TV off of it. Right now, looks like two black boxes. Hang the TV on one wall with a console underneath and the big sofa facing it so you can comfortably watch it. Ditch the loveseat off you can. Show us dimensions.

I drew a picture and tried to uoload it but it never would, i’ll try again. the only thing is when i have family over, which can be quite often, i like to have a place for everyone to sit.

Don’t ditch the seating just rearrange. We used rambio limewash from Home Depot. Lightening the stone will lighten things up

They are sell a masonry flat paint finish, but I would just lighten it a bit. It’s sooooo easy, and if you put too much on you just wipe it off with water

The new paint looks great and brightens things up. Nice choice. Before you do anything permanent to the fireplace I would get a rug, window coverings and other things to see if that gets you where you want to be. Here’s a quick mock up using the light blue from your floor lamp and a coral combo. Are you interested in moving the tv or does it work for you over the fireplace? If you want to leave it there, there are ways to display art on it. You can do a search, there’s lots of instructions floating out there. You could also add art on the other wall to add some color

Yes pillows and rug would be a good start!!
