This is a contemporary beach condo in Los Angeles. The already-built upper and lower cabinets will be warm grey, with the tall fridge/pantry cabinets in natural ash veneer, as the attached rendering approximately shows. Because I have 2 units above me that have had occasional water leaks into my unit, I want to install tile or stone flooring in the kitchen, even though may not be ideal in this open plan layout. One option is a more contemporary porcelain tile (in a natural or light grey, similar to that shown below, or possibly a terazzo). Another option is a more rustic grey limestone, a bit darker than the grey cabinets.

1. What do you think about using a more rustic, natural stone vs a more contemorary porcelain in this contempory home with a very contemporary kitchen?

2. Any other thoughts about the flooring as shown?
