most likely.. you need to hire a isa certified arborist to give you an onsite inspection ...

but if you can get us a good pic or two... we can teach you how to discuss with the onsite guy

Thank Ken. We actually just purchased the property and noticed the rubbing area. Our builder thinks we need to remove the magnolia (the smaller of the trees). I was hoping there was another option to reduce/stop the rubbing and keep both trees.Some sort of protectant cushion material, like the stuff that pipe insulation is made of? Soft yet firn?

Perhaps there is no need to break up this marriage. At that size and height of contact they have been rubbing along for quite some time. It is one of the ways the trees in the forest talk, A pine and magnolia marriage at that height speaks of the South.

New property, builder, trees that tall, have a certified arborist come out and assess all your trees.

hire the arborist to do a site survey so you can make proper building decisions based on the trees on the lot ...

im sure you invested in every other expert in designing/building the house.. so why not the flora and fauna??

we get a lot of posts about trees dying dying due to construction ... pay money to try to avoid that ...

OK, thank you all for the suggestions. I hope they have a few options rather than cutting down the trees! Is there such a thing as something placed between the trees to stop the friction?
