DG this cereus is 49 years old. It started as a cutting a neighbor gave me the first year I was married. It moved with us 5 times. It and my ponytail palm are my two oldest plants. I would be devastated if anything happened to them.

Nice!

I have pitaya climbing my live oak and it bloomed recently, but almost all the flowers are way up high in the canopy, so we mostly only get to enjoy the shriveled up remains when they fall...

That's lovely! I have a pitaya and a night blooming cereus, but neither are old enough to bloom yet.

Bea, I have plants like that too. One is my Aloe vera, which was given to me by my mother as a gift on my 25th birthday. I thought I was going to lose it this year, and it terrified me! Another is my Desert Rose, which I grew from a seed over 20 years ago. I've dragged these all over the country with me, and baby them as much as possible. Another is my Confederate Rose, which was grown from seeds from a friend here on GW, who smuggled them from Hawaii in the hem of a dress. If I could only pick a few plants to go with me when I leave here, it would be those three.
