Wow! Beautiful specimens!

Here are a few of my mother-in-law’s from today
Raspberry Sundae, Sugar Plum, Marilyn Monroe, and Dance with Me

I did not photograph around my garden much today, but did snap a few pictures of the 2021 new recruits when I set them aside to make way for the watering hose.

1. Ice Cream, Summer Serenade, and Olive Bailey Langdon in top row, and Katie Q, Blue Shadows, Fragrant Dream, and Fried Bananas in 2nd row.
2. 3rd row with Dressed to Kill, Beet Salad, Punky, and Sargeant Pepper
3. 4th row with Soul Shine, NOID (supposed to be Frisian Waving Steel, but obviously not), June Fever, Plum Delicious, Martini. Bottom row with Blue Moon, Summer Breeze, and Carolina Sunshine looking perfect, and Rainforest Sunrise starting to get spotty.
4. Wave Runner burst its girdle and flopped some leaves. Still, not bad for 1 month after arrival.

So nice to see so many good looking hosta!

NHL, super wow! Great plants, so lush and established. Your gardens are well composed.

Most of my Hostas got slug damage this summer, so aren't looking as good as they usually do this time of year. Here's a few that still look ok.

Blue Angel (I think) looks the best of all of them.

Christmas Tree looks ok

Frances Williams still looks, surprisingly, good.

Here's a baby Forbidden Fruit that still has quite a bit of its yellow. (mama got more sun and is pretty bleached out)

For reference, this was the baby Forbidden Fruit on June 19th.

Oh, and my darling little Holy Mouse Ears who I've been babying all summer after it's traumatic slug attack.

I have a question about Ben Vernooij……..so many oeople have it but to me it looks so much like Autumn Frost or Blue Ivory. Is there a difference I am missing?

Its a good thing I took the Photo of Little Treasure a three days ago……..was away from home for two days and today the leaf edges are browning today. I’m so sad to see the season coming to an end.

debra, at first I thought you had the name and date for Praying Hands carved into the rock as your marker.

Allow me a bit of a pity party..... This has been a hard year for my garden. Severe drought followed by water restrictions, and day after day of smoke from fires creating unhealthy air quality has dulled my enthusiasm to get outside and do much of anything in the yard. I'm sure my blah feelings will pass and I'll love my gardens again!

But I still have a few hostas that look pretty good as of 9-10-21

I took pics of my better looking hostas in back today..

Coast to Coast..I finally planted it..rocks as usual to stop the squirrels..

Great Expectations..I marked the 2 bad leaves..but in general looks nice..

June..anyone else have a million ash tree seeds?..

Nicholsworth, that’s a nice bed in your last pic! It has been a drought here in Milwaukee, but the last two days we had huge thunder, lightning and downpours. So I may not have to water again before I cut back and drench in a couple of weeks. Your plants look good inspite of the dry conditions.

debra..thanks!..I spent the day watering..I connected 2 hoses..one 100 ft and one 75..can reach a lot but not everything Lol..I used an old small sprinkler so I could saturate just plants and not have overspray..moved it around a lot..the Water Right hoses make it easy..then I sat on the garden seat and filled all 7 of my watering cans..hauled them all over and emptied them..then filled them a second time and did it again..

I've watered occasionally this summer but the plants would've liked more..one of my astilbes was pitiful..it was surrounded by vinca/periwinkle/myrtle (goes by several names) and you couldn't see it..I watered it as soon as I saw it..I took a look at it before I came in..looks better already..
