For the time being I would paint the blue door and trim the color of the stone to deemphasize it and maybe put a sign on it that says "Please use yellow door". At this point you are going to have to actively lead people to the correct door.

Thanks for your feedback. I like your idea of painting the blue door to fade into the wall. We've been trying to lead folks away for 8 years and just need a solution so the front door feels more welcoming.

Unfortunately the white iron posts visually block the yellow door enough to make it seem secondary and less important.

Hi, maybe consider removing all obstacles from the walkway that lead to the yellow door. Hang a nice welcome sign on that ornate post. To the right of the Yellow door, create a nice flower bed to draw more attention to the entry area, perhaps with a small bench and pot of flowers there. Good luck!

I agree with the comments above that recommend removing the pots, trellis, bench (?), and other obstacles on the walkway, as a start. The white pillars are part of the obstacle course and it would be good if the roof edge could be supported by posts that are not on the walkway. I think your best approach is to hire a landscape architect who could design hardscape and plantings for the whole front yard and entry. You have a number of issues that need to be addressed and a professional on site could help you design a really nice front yard. You have a great piece of property and a house with a lot of potential. Keep us posted on what you do!

Those posts support the house. I wouldn't park there. A floor pot & light for the door to use. Agree on the above.

I really like the rock pillars, it be great if that could continue along the entire walkway, as well as the Little Rock wall, esp by the blue door bc then it doesn’t look like an entrance from the front. You could then have lights lighting up the rock columns, and break the wall closer to the proper front door so when looking at the house from the front, you know the front door is at the end (you wouldn’t hop a rock wall to go in through that blue door)… it’s just kind of awkward since both doors face to the side, neither face outward. Maybe you would need to do something out front by the yellow door with a path to the street so it’s clear that’s the entrance to the house

Julie- Thanks very much for your thoughts. It's funny how much I hate the columns and yet someone else sees them and like them, lol. I agree it would be great if there was a way to block the breezeway entrance and door, but it's the first thing you see once you walk past the garage, I haven't found a way to hide it since it is right next to the sidewalk. I do wish our driveway was a simi-circle in front of the house, but don't want to lose our trees.

Thanks to you all for your suggestions- I do tend to think we will have to hire a landscape architect to re envision the whole front- we've had stuff by the blue door as we have been using this as the front entrance for a while- people were going to stop there anyway so we tried to make it look more intentional. Now that we are going to move people toward the yellow door, we will take everyone's comments to heart and try to move eye-catching items down to the Yellow door end.
