Bedroom decor help

We just moved into our home and i just cant decide what to do with this room. My biggest question is what to do with the windows behind the bed - above the night stands (my MIL put those there last week but i dont know if i love them) and what throw pillows and blanket color to use to compliment the rug. Any and all advice is welcomed :)

Is that the only place for the bed?

The right is a bathroom and closet so the only other place would be where the dresser is is.

Can we see the other side where the dresser is? I feel like that might be a better place to put the bed bc its not an ideal place to block the windows with it. Plus if you move the bed by the otther . wall, you can put some nce floor to ceilng curtains for the windows, which I thtnik will give it a great look.

Hi Taylor. Here’s an interesting article about how to place beds in front of window

If you have a tv in the room, then you can't move the bed. If not, then I agree to try it across from those windows.

Angle the bed in the corner, between both set of windows, get another set of matching drapes for the windows you have the bed under. place a night stand under each window and I would absolutely put a tall plant behind the bed in that empty corner.

No angled beds! For the love of God! No angled beds!!!

Take down the mirrors, add a curtain rod and panels the same as the other window.

I like the idea of the mirrors but i don’t think you have the room. i would layer drapes behind the bed. Sheers under then match what is on the other window over that. Keep the sheers closed and the other drapes pulled open. Pull the blinds up or down as needed.

I don't like the two mirrors above the night stands either to be honest. The overall tone of the room is dark, I believe that brighter would be better.

Why is the bed so high? The night stands are too low. They should be mattress height. The lamps need to be more substantial & taller) and the mirrors should be hung behind them not above them. The bedding is just blah. The rug is very pretty use some color from it in the bedding.

The previous poster brings up a good point with the height. At first I thought it was just the soffit throwing my eyes off. Possibly you bought a platform bed which usually does not need a box spring. I still would like to see the other walls— you may have more options than you think. I do like the minimalist bedding. I would look into getting bottom-up top-down custom blinds to bring in light from the upper windows instead of blocking all light, regardless if you move the bed or not.

    Add some colorful pillows.

Take a photograph, close up, of your pretty rug. THOSE are the colors to bring life to your room. You have no pattern in your room except for the rug. The suggestion for patterned pillows, artwork, etc. will help. White bedding is fine, but your colors are “vanilla.” Add some spice…Color. Texture. Pattern. I think I see shades of blue, coral, or even pink in your rug. Add those to your decor. And…no ore gray or beige.

I would pick nice colors from rug for pillow cases, wall art and bedding. Plus tall lamps.

One option for wall decor is to use your mirrors. You can paint it bronze/gold or as your side stands. Plus bamboo blinds.
