We've lived in a condo for 20+ years now; the building, which dates from the early 1900s/late 1890s, was converted to condos around 1987, I believe. We fell in love with the condo and it's many charms, but unfortunately, it seemed like the rehab job was less than stellar.

All over the apartment, on the corners, where walls came down, I imagine, and doors were removed, leaving a painted-over hinge, the task of rehabbing those areas sure looks like it was done in a hurry. The only word I can think of is bumpy. Please see photos! I would appreciate any insight as to why this happened (other than shoddy workmanship??) and how to "smooth it over." There's lead paint under all the fresh paint except for the windowsills. It's just me and my husband; our grown daughter is living in NC. Is there a way I can do something - sand it down with lots of precautions, apply spackle, etc? I've been hating this for many years. . . any help would be most appreciated! Thanks!
