Art is really a very personal thing. You could find a piece of art that you love, and let that help to inform your other choices. You don’t have to match the art to the room - or the room to the art. However, with a graphic rug like this shown above, I might just do something simple in the art - such as black and white art or photograph(s). Really no rules, though. Something like this poster, and maybe framed in black, could also work, for example.

I think your sofa could be a bit more centered on the wall.

In my opinion, black and white will not go with your couch. Black and white goes well with cool colors. You have a warm color couch, walls, and floor. I like to have either all warm colors in a room or all cool colors. Here are warm colors: off-white, cream, golden yellow, orange, peach, brown, olive green. Cool colors: bright white, black, navy, royal blue, ice pastels, cool red, pine green, emerald green, Kelly green, forest green, purple, gray, taupe. Your couch is too style and color specific. I am all in favor of having a vintage couch. I had a MCM one for 10 years. When I got it, I had it reupholstered in light blue. It did not have a tufted back like yours does. However, after ten years it was looking mighty tired and I was ready to move on with it. I got it second hand, and I donated it again when I got a new couch. I have eclectic style. In my opinion, one can have eclectic style if the elements in the room are classic. With your current couch, you can have all MCM items in the room. I currently have a couch that is not style specific, and it is very classic. It will not go out of style and I expect to have it for at least ten years.

Are windows with black frames? Could this type blend with sconces?

Maria- I have a couple mock ups for you picking up on your mid century style. You can blend black and ivories along with your existing items nicely.

You could do roman shades on windows. You could change out wall sconces. Just depends on your budget and desires. I wasn’t sure if a TV was going in this room or not. I tried to select budget friendly items.
