I need some yucca help!

So, my grandpa left me his prized "banana" plant after he passed away. Lo and behold.... it's a yucca plant! (NO WONDER WE NEVER GOT BANANAS FROM IT! 🤣🤣)
Well, it's all trimmed down now, and happily repotted in a few new pots (after ten years in the same pot...) but two cuttings from it are growing really thin and almost cutting themselves off... I'm not sure what to do with them.
Where do I cut them to make them healthy? Right under the green? Will they automatically start rooting? Will the stems keep getting thin; do I need to REALLY cut them back far?
Any help is beyond appreciated! It meant so much to him to keep this plant alive. I'm trying my best to keep it healthy, since I know he couldn't when he was sick. Thank you. :)
