They look good, I've never ordered in the fall but a little colder zone here. I've had Cool as a Cucumber for 5 years and it is still a smaller medium.

Size of divisions shipped are not really relative to the ultimate size of the plant you ordered. A 2 year tissue culture even of a "large" hosta will be rather small, but a division from a fully mature plant will be closer to mature leaf size. Age matters.

some are showing signs of dormancy ... and im sure this all will speed that up ...

have you gotten late fall deliveries before ... are you expecting them to basically go dormant rather soon ...

in fact ... who cares about the leaves.. show us a pic or two.. of the roots and dormant eyes ... thats what would get my juice flowing ... lol ... if you already planted them.. dont bother... just use your words.. if you noted such ....

The roots look great, and they were less dormant than I expected. They came from the PNW to north Alabama.

I had a brief scare when the USPS tracking said there was a delay, and with a holiday coming to boot. But they arrived on time after all.

Just finished planting them, and didn’t think to get photos of the roots.

They look great. I love Ben Vernooj--it's got such great colors and it's a standout in my garden. It's hard to tell the difference between Ben V and First Frost. I have both. I had Cool as a Cucumber, a large plant that suddenly died last year. I think that it had issues when I got it and it really didn't do well in my yard. Hope yours does better. My Blueberry Muffin is 2 years old, it's a great plant too!
