Of course you can. What do you have to lose? If you don’t try it you will definitely lose the plant. If you do you might lose it. But I would cut the stems into shorter pieces.

I’m curious as to how you made the mistake. Round here the taps produce water, not vinegar.

Agreeing w/ Floral abt cutting the stems to shorter lengths to re-root them. I use short pieces of stems no more than 6" in length & water root them, being sure to remove the bottom leaf, so only the lower node is in the water.

If mine, I'd salvage all the still live stems possible & throw out the original plant (w/ dead roots, the bottom of the plant will not come back). I'd also move the vinegar far, far away from the plants.

You'll get good best results taking a cutting with 3 leaves or nodes. Remove leaves from at least the bottom 2 nodes (if they have leaves) and make sure they are covered by soil. If the top node has a leaf growing from it, cut the leaf in half across leaf veins.

If you do decide to root in water, be advised that the water's highest oxygen content will be in the top centimeter of the water column, no matter how deep it is, so only fill the container enough to cover the top node. Dissolved O2 levels are affected by the level of solutes in the water. Adding chlorine and carbonates (standard procedure) to municipal water supplies limits the water's ability to hold O2, so it's best to use distilled water instead of tapwater and change it every few days. Make sure the water line is never lower than the top node.
