So in zone 8 you should not have to bring it indoors for a while yet. I would bring in when temps get into low 40s. Citrus don't mind cool weather. 'Cold' for citrus is usually somewhere in the 30s and below.

A half lemon/half lime is probably two rooted cuttings stuck in the same pot?

I think the mandevilla might complicate things a bit regarding watering, nutrition, competition etc.

Should I put it back out? I did for a bit the other day and leaves started to curl, and it was well watered

If it's already acclimated to indoor light levels you would have to gradually get it used to full sunlight again. Putting a indoor tree directly into full sunlight will burn it.

I purchased a 300 W grow light to give it 8+ full hours on “ sunshine” indoors.

Lisa, it's all dependent upon your low temps. Bring in when temps get into low 40s / upper 30s. When you set it out, can you put it in part shade?

Ok, this is nuts!!! I came home from work, of course I check on my tree right away and look what I found! I thought my husband was playing a joke on me. I never even knew it was there. So, I checked some old pics, and there it was all along! But how could this be??

So, maybe it is a lime, since this was a lemon-lime tree? How will I know when to pick it?

I know how that feels. I found tons on my Kishu manderine tree only because they turned orange. lol I would of never noticed if they had stayed green

By the way. eventually the roots will compete and one will strangle the other, For now the annuals are probably helping you to allow the mix dry out quickly.
