Do you ever entertain? If so you could try to get a table that is small but expandable. Even if you don't have sit down dinners a surface could be useful. If you think you need some sort of storage instead, look at bookshelves or an armoire. Armoires can be bulky and difficult to move, however. There are a lot of options in consoles, also.

The sectional is placed much better in your second photo, but move your chair to the corner where you have the beanbag. Then you could look for a modern drop leaf table for the wide hallway. It would fit up against the wall most of the time so it's out of the way, along with two chairs, but you could open it out into the space when you wanted to dine at a table. You could also add folding chairs to seat more.

Lower that TV for god's sake.And a to scal eflor plan with all measurements is the way to get real help here . IMO that space would have been perfect for the TV but I have no way to know without a floor plan pictures are great but if they do not give a feel for the space they are only part of the whole dilemma

The tv placement is an accident waiting to happen. Either put some furniture on the 42" wide wall to block people from hitting it as they walk by or move it somewhere else.

We think the sectional placement in the second photo might actually work better. Is there anyway you can move the TV elsewhere? It seems like it is up very high. Please see our designs here for some ideas on what might work better for your space:
