    fireplace is vintage- original CMU (concrete masonry unit) which is the poor man's brick. pressure wash and some wire brush cleaning and sealer to restore.

    yamamar - was the floating concrete hearth original as well? I am looking to do something similar at my MCM house but am having trouble finding a suitable concrete for next to a fireplace opening. Did you use a special mix or additives or was it a cast concrete like Sonoma Stone?
