Got a new Kilim rug from fabulous dealer on Etsy. Kiliim. They were featured on Remodelista and they are terrific. Got ledges from PB and have ordered one more and will reconfigure these as I have way more photos! A small portion of my turned bowls.

Before photo DR French doors go out the screened patio addition.More bowls on the sideboard.

I love this room. Great way to display family photos...i want to copy. The older I get, the more I realize family pictures need to be displayed, not hidden.

The chairs and china cabinet were made for me by E.A. Clore in Madison VA in 1980. Its all maple. They stopped making maple furniture decades ago. We had no idea we would one day live an 1 1/2 from them! The table is Scandia purchased in SLC when DH was a post doc at U of U in 1976.

    Thank you for looking 🙏

Your home always looks so inviting. I have a blank wall in the dining room which I have never known what to do with. Since for the most part, the dining room is used for family dinners, family photos are a great idea! Thank you.

Trail, your tastes are impeccable. And I bet your husband enjoys it too! Beautiful room.

Tuesday, we have a wall of family photos in DH's office and it was just this year I put more out on the sofa table. Why did I take so long? Oh, I know. Remember all the decorating "experts" telling everybody not to put family photos in the living room? :)

    @Oakley @tuesday_2008 @nekotish

you are SO right it used to be a huge No No to have faces looking at you when eating! No mirrors or photos.

My DR in AL had the huge antique piece covered in these photos. Took me 4 yrs to figure out where to put them here since I had no room for that piece.

@Tina Marie its a 1970’s MOM fixture I found on Etsy. Thank you.

Love that new rug - stunning design. Do I spy small prayer type rugs on the chairs seats? The whole house vibe is warm and serene.

What a stunning room. I love the warmth. To me every piece in the room looks so thoughtfully chosen, making such cohesion. The wood, textiles, picture and art tell a beautiful story. Thank you so much for showing us.

I have window-envy, too! Your wall color is lovely, too, and highlights the woodwork and scenery. Your furniture choices have been foretelling--like you knew you'd eventually place those chairs in that room.

This chair was made by an ancestor on my Mom’s ( edited) side. A number of years ago my brother found remains of their saw mill from the 1800’s in the woods in Ohio where they settled. On both my Mom’s and Dad’s sides there were carpenters . I think this chair has influenced my vision of furniture my whole life and my love of simple wood design , thus my love of turned bowls as well.

I am truly moved by the wonderful comments about this room. I will tell you I hesitated to post it and waited several days because I didn’t think it was special enough to show. I know better now!! You are the best! I am humbled. Thank you. c

Your dining room —your whole house—is special, Trail! The house itself is lovely and the light is just wonderful. Your furniture looks perfectly at home, as do your bowls and photos of loved ones. They all look like they could never have been anywhere else. It’s all beautiful ❤️

this is the company they are in a suburb of Portland OR. I had them make shades for every window and received them a year ago. They are all stil perfect . I have tried to reach Linda , the owner, several times with no success. I hope they are still in business. Nothing has been updated on the website since I ordered .

@Feathers11 the color on the DR and Music room walls is Battenberg Affinity line of paints. It has the perfect amount of gray/beige for my art .

Again thank you everyone for your generous thoughtful compliments. c

I have a dressing table with a mirror that I am using as a credenza in the dining room. I had to put a whole bunch of stuff in front of the mirror because it was so awful and distracting looking at myself eat every meal . . . I have a small yet somewhat prominent frame with bw photos of my two grandmothers. They are my cooking inspirations so I don't mind them watching me eat . . . particularly when I am using their dishes.

I love the way the rug coordinates with that gorgeous wood floor. That's my someday dream for my dining room, a wood floor. Had that at my last house. Blue shag carpet is NOT fun. I so love that rug! Wondering if those are tulips?

I have a roller shade made by Handwerk for my front door that's 3/4 lite. My first one from around 2015 developed a bad spring mechanism so I wanted another one to replace it. They're quite reasonably priced, so I didn't mind buying a new one. I emailed Linda countless times and then nothing. I was about to try another manufacturer, when I picked up the phone, dialed the number, and Linda answered. I think the pandemic and filling orders got a little overwhelming. She was very sorry not to have responded sooner. I told her I believed in all's well that ends well, and she appreciated that. I placed another order with the same measurements as before, and received my wonderful new shade. Please don't give up on her.

@Bunny thanks for letting me know. I don’t need anything from her just wanted to touch base. Glad you are happy with your shades too! c
