unless i’m seeing the photo incorrectly, you seem to have a very high threshold so i’m not sure what could have been done differently.

Was the other sill removed? Who installed this? Do you have any pics of the opening before the new door was installed? Back up a few feet and take a picture of the entire door from both the interior and the exterior as well as with the door swung open.

Existing sill? The sill is part of this door. Everything was removed and started fresh. I admit I don't know much about this but it was a prehung exterior door with standard threshold and attached sill. So why is it so high up off the finished floor?

Did you lower the floors after they came and measured?

Do you by chance have a picture of the opening after the old door was removed and before the new door was installed? How about a pic of the previous door from the interior and the exterior?

They measured before the floors lowered AND AGAIN after. When I decided to redo the floors they had to be lowered and so I called them back and they came out again to remeasure. I'm in a battle with them now because they say nothing is wrong with it.

I feel like they are lying to me and giving me runaround to avoid responsibility and not grant a refund. They are saying I made the mistake by ordering a standard threshold and I need an ADA one. I didnt need ADA before. I think that's bs and even if true why didn't the installer tell me that when they measured and the salesman didn't either when I went to pick out a door.

I will take a screen shot of the field report and post shortly. Pics are in. From both measurements...old floor and new. I also still have an old ugly door at the front if the house I will post.

Its resting on the stone but more than 2 inches high on the inside.The threshold is adjustable. Why would it be so high on the inside if notba mistake? It looks plain ugly

Does/ did the old & existing old door even have an attached sill? (Doesn't look like it in the photo.) And was it/ is it (old doors) even an exterior door?

Interior doors would have no attached sill/ threshold.

That's exactly how it was when I bought the house. I didn't touch anything on the door that you see in the old flooring pics. It's my first house and I'm not handy at all. I just requested home depot come out to measure and I went to purchase a door based on those measurements.

It still looks like a good install. The picture of your "towel" threshold on the old door says it all. You had an interior door with an exterior storm/screen door. Now you have a new exterior door with built in threshold. Good install.

Oh excuse me, the existing old door sill was removed. It was just like the other door that was removed that you see with the old grey tile flooring in the field picture

That storm door was also measured and installed by home dept. I was going to buy a front door from them but not after this.

Very hard to see those pictures but it looks like there was some sort of threshold installed. But....

You have all the paperwork, specs and renderings and I assume you signed off on them. You bought the door and oversaw the install. You own a nice new door, enjoy it.

This is making me crazy. I have several open cases against them on this. I even reached out to the door manufacturer and they stated it's a install or measurement issue. I'm just trying to find out what exactly went wrong. No one told me this was going to be anything other that a straight forward install.

They specifically told me if there's a issue with measurements and install it's on them. It's even in the contract. I don't know how to measure a door properly that's why I called them. I only sign off on the door model. You don't sign off on the measurements.

They also don't have you sign anything after install btw. If they were supposed to...they did not.

And sorry I expected better. It's not nice to me. It's looks rigged abd ruining my remodel. I paid 10k for my new floors. I'll sell you the door if you're interested.

Amy I think you have a valid complaint and I believe I may know the problem from the number of good pictures taken before and after. They showed me a lot of what went wrong.

The height of most new door thresholds are 1 1/8 high on the door side. With a door sweep installed the height will be about 1 5/8" to 1 3/4" and are built together as one piece. The actual height of the door off the floor should be about 1 5/8" minus the thickness of your floor and should only sit about 1' to 1 1/4" high depending on the thickness of your new flooring, but you state it's 2" high. (stay with me) Your old door threshold was built in pieces with the door sweep is separate and attached to the finished door. This is why you old door sat lower to the floor, and because of the different ways the two were built the new door will sit higher. Unless your have the old threshold replicated to match what came out it will sit higher. BUT this does not explain why it sits 2" high as you stated. I believe you because the pictures suggest this and means there is a problem.

I believe they sat the door on the finished floor and did not cut out what was needed from the finished floor to properly sit the new door on the sub floor. The floor was laid to match the existing old style door threshold and sweep. The pictures tell the story but a statement you made has me confused. You stated the threshold sits flush with the stone outside, but can not be if they shimmed the door high and is worrisome.

It seems there could also of been a problem with interference between the outside stone an the aluminum threshold. In this case they may of had to shim the door even higher to clear the stone and could explain the 2" height on the inside. It happens when going from two different systems between old and new, which means the stone needs to be lowered or the door shimmed higher or threshold modified. They should have stopped and told you the issue and not continued on with a bad install for either situation as a problem.

Under the horrid quarter round nailed to the bottom of the door to coverup will be the answer to what they did. It will tell if it sits on the finished floor or if it's shimmed higher to clear the stone outside. Investigate and gather your information and present it to home depot with pictures to see how they may help you.

For the future I highly recommend to NEVER use ANY big box store to install ANY product you buy from them. Find a professional who does quality work.

Thank you Kevin and PPF. Another door vendor pretty much stated what you said Kevin. We just didn't remove that piece on the bottom because we are worried they will say we tampered with it. He pulled it back some and there's a gap at the bottom. I prefer to have things done the right way and if I needed to adjust anything on the house for it to sit properly I would have done it and paid for it. I just lost all faith in them and don't believe they could fix it so I want a full refund so I can trash this door. I have disputes with my cc company and the attorney general office. I'm just gathering all my evidence and will submit to them asap. Home Depot and the installer say that the problem is I didn't buy an ADA door. Ridiculous. And if true they should have sold me that door in the first place. Either way not my fault and on them.
