It doesn't look very yellow on my monitor, but that is why we always tell people to test in their own space. :-) Since you've already bought the paint and you're covering a darker color that will require two coats, I suggest you finish painting the wall in your picture and then see how you like it. It is possible that the gray on the upper part of the wall is making it look yellow. You also may want to paint the trim on that wall so that isn't setting up a bad contrast as well. Cloud White does have a yellow undertone, but for a northern and eastern exposure, that's what I would have chosen.

I do like it! I was concerned with the natural lighting if it would be flexible enough without reflecting weird undertones. I think it’s getting there but I feel it may need another coat. If you have suggestions please feel free to chime in!

I painted my whole house in cloud white and it was the worst mistake in my remodel that I could have made. I am now slowly repainting the interior of my house room by room in SW pure white (such a headache and expensive after hiring professional painters). Cloud white has a very strong yellow undertone. It looked like I had painted my whole house cream. After this mistake I started closely following Kylie M Interiors on color selection. I hope this color works out for you but for us it was definitely l a huge oops.

Well I’m following up with this morning’s lighting…the last couple days have been cloudy so the paint looked nice. This morning was full on sunshine and I got the highlighter yellow again.

I used the same description, highlighter yellow, for Cloud White when I first saw it turn. I was comparing Chantilly Lace, Cloud White, and Simply White. Chantilly Lace looks good in the sun, but looks like primer at other times. In my light, Simply White seems like a happy medium. Warm in low light, but doesn't go highlighter in full sun. It looks warm/creamy vs. highlighter.

aburningham87 I was reading Kylie M Interiors blog and she mentioned white dove and alabaster as her north facing off whites but those colors looked even more yellow and creamy to me when sampling. Cloud white didn’t with the sample so I’m kinda shocked how yellow it looks with the whole wall painted. I have a feeling it’s the tan wood fence outside contributing to the yellow cast along with the passive light. I share the fence with the neighbors so not sure how reasonable it would be to paint the fence…I’m not sure what to do other than to leave my dreams of an all warm white house dreams in the past.

Could it possibly be yours floors? I can not see what they are in the pics. I am in no way a color expert but we had an issue before with walls vs floors changing paint colors.

I don’t think they are the floors but great suggestion. The floors are a dark brown with very slight reddish and definitely no yellow in them.

I think I’ll go ahead and hire a paint consultant. I know Sherwin Williams has free consulting but they are experiencing a major supply chain shortage and I could now get samples of the paints she recommended. I want to stick with Benjamin Moore. Hiring a consultant might help me narrow the best paint without spending more money on the wrong one. Thanks everyone for their input! I’ll update when I can.

I hired Jacob Owens on line. Led me to colors I had not been considering. Won’t be painted for a couple of weeks but I was generally happy with his suggestions.

Shaun_gilbraith I was originally going to do Simply White but then got worried it would look dingy in times of low light. I’ll paint a larger swatch of Simply White and see if that makes a difference. I still have a whole sample can left.

I'm at the exact place you were at K Y - Leaning towards Cloud White and have done so in my bathroom but am worried about the yellow undertone in relation to the rest of the house. How is your Cloud White looking 2 months in now?

Did you end up keeping your cloud white? I’m considering it for my kitchen. Alabaster is too white and is looking boring…painted half a wall with it. I have a cloud white samplize and it looks perfect, but I’m weary of going just off the samplize. Really a large painted sample is needed to tell what a color will look like, but 30 minutes to the paint store is getting old haha!

Hi Lindsay et al - I feel like I've inadvertently become an expert on BM whites (the hard way)! In the end I couldn't stand Cloud White in my windowless bathroom. It turned out to be way too yellow next to the greige tile and under the warm halogen pot lights. (am in the process of correcting what I did in there - let's just say Steam by BM wasn't a great choice either). Howeiver, I have used Simply White in a dark hall and also in a very bright bedroom and just love it! The paint guy told me Simply White is 'half Cloud White' and I can see why. The yellow/cream undertone adds a nice 'pick up' to the wall colour while still being white. I did the baseboards and trim also in Simply White but in satin in the bedroom and it looks great. A couple of years ago I did my kitchen in Decorator's White but it turned out to look much too cool and gray next to the creamy white cabinets. My cabinets were apparently done in Oxford White but read more like Simply White to me so the DW really clashed. I went ahead and re-painted the kitchen walls in Oxford White and, while it doesn't match the lacquered OW cabinets perfectly, it looks way better than with the Decorator's White. OW is a toned down version of SW because it has a hint of gray in it. Now, I have used White Dove in my living-dining room and stairwell. It definitely leans more creamy but not in an overly yellow way. I like a more 'true white' kitchen so I didn't/wouldn't carry the White Dove into the kitchen (I also like bit of contrast bewteen my Living-Dining and the Oxford White in the kitchen. Sure hope this helps a bit!

Thank you, Karen! This is very helpful. Your Oxford white looks just how I was picturing the cloud white would look haha. These whites are so hard to work with! I actually had simply white trim on all my cabinets and trim in my last house. It was a very easy color and looked good with everything. I hadn’t considered it as a wall color, and I may need to go back to it and buy a paint sample. And I’ll add the Oxford white to my list too.

it‘s possible to compare them by their key colour attributes before sampling.

it’s a great way to work out which is lighter / most colourful / most neutral etc

Why dont you try Benjaman Moore Pale oak for warmth but it could pull pink. its clean

Cloud White is my favorite white. Perfect warm and creamy white without looking grey or too yellow. I have used on walls with Chantilly Lace trim and the contrast is beautiful and classic.
