New Window Design

Hello,

I am in the process of updating my 1980s windows with all new construction energy efficient vinyl. We took down our shutters and are going to add 3.5” trim around each window for a more modern look. Currently our kitchen lacks natural sunlight so we are paying to blow out our kitchen window in lieu of a 3 lite slider picture window (taped out in blue). My wife also insisted in installing a slider with the far right above sink window and install double hung for the remainder of the house. All windows are going to have the colonial grids with the exception of the center picture glass (which will have colonial grids on the left/right sides).

We also plan to update our kitchen by painting our birch cabinets and installing quartz, as well as potentially extending the counter top by 10” to the right so we can purchase stools and have an entertainment area for guests. I have a small kitchen so there is not a lot to work with.

I have two questions.

  1. Regarding the two kitchen windows to the right of the house. Do you think the window placement will look off with the 3 lite slider picture install being roughly 2 feet farther to the left of the kitchen area (right side of house). Also, do you think the two sliders on the right will clash with the two left double hung windows (front of house)?

  2. Would it be a mistake to extend the counter top and have the stools partially in front of the picture window? I live at the end of a small cul de sac so privacy really isn’t a concern but the exterior perspective/resale is a concern.

Any advice would truly be appreciated. I feel I might have pulled the trigger with the windows without fully thinking this through. Home improvement is not my strong suit. Thanks.
