For more storage, I would replace the bedside tables with drawer nightstands. You could also add a storage bench at the foot of the bed.

Consider how you feel about your art. Are you willing to hang it off center or if you are willing to repurpose it on another wall. One solution would be to add a shelf (or pair of shelves) beneath the art either with LED lights built in or use clamp lights to solve the lighting issue and keep your phone, alarm clock, etc., still close to the bed without a night stand. Then you could invest in a pair of tall chests of drawers or cabinets, one for each side of your bed and maintain symmetry.

Another idea might be to get to tall cabinets that have the storage you need to replace the night stands and either find or you add a shelf to the side of each -- on side closest to the bed -- for the items that are usually kept on the night stand -- and, perhaps, use clamp lights attach to each shelf in lieu of a lamp. Or put that shelf beneath your art and use that shelf only for the clamp lights so you can keep the art above it.

I feel like the alcove calls for centering, and I would probably get a pair of 2-3 drawer nightstands.

I love the look of bed being centered. I would get taller or with drawers nightstand. You have room for a trunk or storage bench at end of bed. They come in half moon style. There are tall dressers.

It does not look bad at all, once you moved it. The right lamp might help you make up your mind.
