Sherry, your Autumn Minaret is a wonderful clump. We would love to see daylilies with the same characteristics in other colors. It is such a welcome sight in the late garden.

Maryl, I really like your two pinks together. Ann's Love is an interesting one.

Debra, Armed to the Teeth always catches my eye. I also light A Little Night Music--such a sharp contrast between eye and edge and petal color. Awaken the Dawn is a new one to me--very pretty!

A Tale of Two Purples is not purple but a dusky rose. It's a good grower in our climate.

We continue to like A Man Called Trout.

This is supposed to be Arctic Bear. It was sent accidentally--it was supposed to be Ultimate Design. The grower thought it is Arctic Bear.

It's hard to get a good picture of Artillery Fire. It's about 12 inches across, but doesn't make much of an impact in the garden since its petals are so narrow.

Ashwood Inferno is a bright color. It makes small fans and the flowers are not very big.

Asian Emissary is a small flowered one.

Starting the alphabet posts always gives me hope--we might be at the beginning of winter, but spring is on the way.

Nan: I appreciate the comment on Ashwood Inferno as it is on my long list. As with Bob, I like those fiery colors...........Debra: I'm still taken with August Cherry. Maybe one day. The same as Nan I don't remember Awaken the Dawn. Sure it pretty. Wish those pale peaches/tangerines, melons etc. were more colorfast in our heat. Maryl and Hoosier Nan - Awaken the Dawn is a Korth intro. It's acutally a peachy pink, but when backlit from the sun, as in that photo, it looks more orangey. Here's a photo of it in the hottest temps from last summer. Celeste's looks much more true pink - like Korth's photos.

Brad, I think the problem is I need internet service. I tether or use Hotspot to get service, which actually worked well for me for quite a while. Then, occasionally I was having trouble getting on. Now the computer does not recognize my phone either way. I prefer the desktop and had not used the laptop in a while, so am a bit awkward using it.

Names are definitely getting longer. I have not kept up with rule changes, but I believe that in the past, one was not allowed to have verbs in a name. Presently, one is limited to 30 characters.

I agree that Ada Mae Musick is desirable, even though it is always short here (albeit above the foliage). An older one, but I know of no newer Lambertsons that would thrive here.

Abraham Lincoln is one I like here. It gives some scattered rebloom.

Asheville White Winged Dove is a reliable plant here, even though one seldom sees the dove.

Ashwood Wray of Sunshine --problematic here because blooms open already the night before, and in the early season, earwigs damage blooms.

A large, eye-catching bloom, but bud count is never much above six here. Still a keeper. Believe me, there are many southern cultivars below that and with low scape density as well. Ashton's Giggles

Alice Lambertson This attractive bloom comes on a very reliably blooming plant, but alas, is slow to multiply.

Always Tomorrow --Seems I still have this oldie. It is a nice rose pink color.

Also Known As --a very beautiful Derrow cultivar, but it is not a fast increaser here.

Ashwood Dark Side --difficult to capture this near black.

April La Quinta --produces some ravishing blooms

Angels Share --nice flower, but scapes shorter than registered (especially last year). Bloom is somewhat similar to Hanson's Spiritual Corridor.

Atacama Oasis

Allegheny Sunset --nice, but benefits from some shade

Ashwood Plum Crazy --out of Jerry Hyatt.

Ashwood Rings of Saturn --vigorous early bloomer

Ashwood Summer Sunshine --out of Sherry Lane Carr

Arctic Lace --my conclusion is that this is not a cultivar for this climate. I challenge it to prove me wrong this year.

Mantis - So good to see you posting. I especially enjoyed photos of your Ashwood daylilies. I love the look of Atacama Oasis. Is that one new for you?

Mantis, i like seeing your oldie Always Tomorrow. It’s a lovely bloom. Sometimes I think the old beauties leave our gardens too soon. Alot of the newer introductions dont seem to do as well. I like your Ashwood Wray of Sunshine, but have experienced the same thing here with daylily blooms that open at night. I removed my nocturnal daylily, was disppointed too often.

Was a horrendous season here , way too much rain which you would think the daylilies would thrive in but saw the sun so seldom that they didn't do well at all. Also health issues and necessary changes all resulted in very few pics being taken . So here are some of the few pics I did manage to take this past summer ( was it really summer ...was so hard to tell .....thought we were in rain forest territory.

Ashwood Rings of Saturn and Atacama Oasis really stand out to me, Mantis. Your Allegheny Sunset is doing well. I made the mistake of dividing mine, twice, too early. It has struggled since. I may try moving it. I like your Aerial Display, Heather! I hope this year will be better for you. I did not get as many pictures this year, and then deleted many of them.

I had never seen a pic of Aerial Display before. I see that Marked by Lydia is one of the parents.

Atlas Shrugged. It is a rather dominating plant, so got moved to a less desirable location.

Lots of A's added since I looked. Nancy and Debra: All of My Love is tempting me. Must be strong..........Mantis: Any differences you care to mention about the two similar Ashwoods Dark Night and Still Night? Your picture of Ashwood Rings of Saturn is an attention getter...............Heather: I like your Alan Lane Agin. I had it for one season and liked its color quite a bit but it didn't overwinter here unfortunately.....Steve your picture of a Bodacious Pattern is a beauty...........Maryl

Maryl, Ashwood Dark Side is definitely the darker of the two, a near black. Its segments are narrower. It will slick in really hot weather. Still Night is rounder and more reddish; like most darks, it will benefit from some shade. Rings of Saturn is an earlier bloomer. Not a good opener with cold nights.

Thanks Mantis. I always hope Mr. Norris may duplicate another dark one I like as much as his hybrid Mary's Baby. One of the more unappealing aspects of dark colors in my hot summer climate is when the petals slick, so good to know about that in particular. ...........Maryl
