The sink is a Blanco Silgranit II sink, which is a granite composite sink. It's made up of 80% granite, but is not porous the way stone is. I have a large number of customers that use these sinks, and I only hear positive feedback, especially on the Blanco brand. Since it's black it probably will show more than a lighter sink, however, soap and water cleans it up nicely. If you ever have something on the sink that is difficult to get off, you can always use acetone on it as well. That takes anything off. Overall, these sinks are very durable and easy to maintain. I have a black cast iron sink in my kitchen and wish these had been out 12 years ago, when I did mine! Best of luck to you, Annachick, and I hope I helped. :)
