Lighting and Ceiling Fans

Hi Everyone! We're finally ready to choose a couple ceiling fans, some foyer style lighting, and hallway sconces and I'd really appreciate some help. Ours is an open concept home. You can see the kitchen, dining room, and part of the hallway when you are in the great room. Please see existing pendants in kitchen and chandelier in dining room. I'm keeping those. We have plenty of recessed lighting in the great room. I'm attaching pics of the rooms and hallway. You can see by the photos that there is an existing foyer style light fixture in the hallway and one in front of the master suite. What should I put in place of those? And what sconces would you recommend to replace the existing ones in the hallway? There are 4 sconces in all. I'd like something simple that will coordinate with my existing fixtures, if possible. And finally, considering the color of the existing wood beams in the great room, what ceiling fans would you recommend? As you can probably tell, my style is transitional. Thank you for any specific suggestions you are able to offer! I'm stumped.

Suki Mom, thank you for your feedback. The existing ceiling fans really lean more traditional, but I do like the uplight feature they offer. It gives a softer light to the room when the recessed lights are off. I just think they look a bit outdated since we've remodeled most of the house. Hmm...

I’ve never seen fans like yours. I like them, and I really don’t like fans with any lights.

Yes! E19 and E20 seem to be doing great!

maddielee, thank you. I don't like fans with the bottom lights, either.

And yes, those babies are getting big so fast. This is my 3rd season watching.

A designer at Decorist recommended these light fixtures (one of the chandeliers and these sconces that come in either chrome or dark bronze) for the hallway, but are these fixtures too glam? What do you all think?

She also recommended this ceiling fan, although it's only 52 inches (too small for my space) and sold out. I could look for something similar without the light kit. I think I like the idea of the brushed nickel base and rod because that would coordinate with my kitchen island pendants.

I think the fans are fabulous--but the blades appear too short. Can you swap just the blades? You have a very unique home and I would also be on the hunt for different hall fixtures. What's there is too old world compared to the kitchen/dining room fixtures.

arcy_gw, thank you for your input. The house was definitely more old world in style when we bought it. We've been slowly remodeling for the past 2-3 years. I'm going to pass on the glam looking hallway light fixtures, but I kind of like the 3 glass bulb chandelier. Since I only found 2 in stock at the best price, I ordered them just to see them in person. I can return them if I decide. If I decide to keep them, I'll be on the hunt for sconces. As for the ceiling fans, I never thought about just changing the blades. I'll look into that!
