Bathroom lighting for small 5x7

Redoing our main bath - there's not much else we can do with 5x7 so not much to do besides upgrade and re-style. We will be doing glossy porcelain shower tile (12x24 laid horizontally), new 30" vanity with carrera marble top, and 4" hex carrera style floor tile.

We will be doing a 2-light fixture above the mirror, similar to the one below. Would two 4" LED recessed lights (one over the tub and one over the toilet/vanity) be excessive? Any other suggestions? We aren't interested in sconces or in-mirror lights. Thank you.

Excessive? Yes.

Won't you have a fan? Will that have a built-in light? We have a similar bathroom size and the walls are a dark blue. Lighting seems adequate with a double bulb fixture over the mirror and another light in the fan.

@Anna (6B/7A in MD), yes there will be an exhaust fan but not one with a built-in light. Right now we have a 2-bulb up light over the vanity and it's 'enough', but I feel like in 2021, there should be more light available. The vanity light will be on it's own switch, the other light(s) will have their own.

Are ceiling mounted lights (non-recessed) used in bathrooms at all?

I would definitely add the 4" recessed light over the tub.

Our approx 5x10 bath just had the vanity lights. Added the recessed light over the tub/shower combo and I love it. Nice for daughter showering, and I especially like it for reading in the tub.

Can you get a fan with a built-in light? If not, then absolutely I would have another light in there, just not over the toilet AND the tub. For safety, I would choose the tub.
