window treatment ideas
Need help with window treatment
. Wanted drapes, but window and door placement doesn't allow symmetry.
Window valence that extends to include door.
Decorative fabric blinds for windows and door that can be raised to protect the view.
Please note; there are windows above that need blinds for sun control.
Hoping someone has a unique idea for drape.
I do realize I need to tone down the patterns!! So wanted plain drapery fabric.

4 years agoI'd put clear UV window film on the uppers for sun control. The lowers depend on your sun needs. If you're just looking to soften the space, I'd use drapery panels on each end and between each window, with one long rod across the windows, or sheers that can cover the whole area. If you need full sun control, I'd consider woven wood roman shades for each window.

Thank you so much for your help!! I am encouraged by the photos sent as its difficult for me to self visualize.
The second photo with stacked drapes is nice, again there will be a lack of symmetry due to the door which is used frequently. I would have to pull them all to the left near the fire place. Any benefit to also stack behind the piece of furniture?
I really like the woven blinds, no real pattern , nice contrast.
Question is; would i have to use it more like a valence? To offset the height diiference with the door.
Defintely welcome feedback on the drapery idea. Our dining room won't support drapes either.

PRO4 years agoHey there; Light filtering inside mount blinds or shades will do the trick. First of all, you can use the door without opening any drapes, because the blinds travel with the door. For all other windows, you can close or open the shades fully or partially and because of the inside mount, you preserve the design of the window trim and do not have to deal with the asymmetry.

You could go with roller shades if you want a nice clean look.
