Yes, agreed. The floors need to be replaced - as you see from the exterior there is wood floors right outside. We want to replace those with light large format wood - would you bring that into the wine room? Yes, agreed recessed lighting would add a lot of light and make for a clean look. My only thought with the replacement of the wine rack is more of a modern horizontal wine rack.

If you’re replacing the floors outside of that room, then yes, continue it inside the wine room. As for the rack, i think much depends on your budget. If you’re going to replace the racks, too, then I’d gut the whole thing and start over.

It looks like a beautiful, classic space. I really don’t think it needs to be “modernized” . I love it. And I don’t even drink! :) I think the wreath is glorious, btw. Very special space. Appears to be an amazing house.

I agree with @Sabrina Alfin Interiors, and I do think a few small, well-placed recessed lights could be very nice.

To make the room more of an obvious feature, you could bring in some type of full glass door - using tempered glass, of course.

I don’t know if there is space inside the wine room for seating - but maybe you would have enough space in front of the room entrance for a couple of chairs - (?)

If you go to the search feature on Houzz main page, you can search wine cellars, wine rooms, etc. Perhaps one of the many, many pictures will give you a direction. You should be able to find one that will suit your house and your ideas for the renovation.

Yes, I have found a few that I like on there including the one right here. There is not enough width in the room to include any seating (at least not with having walking room around there).

Another question I have is I have two entrances from the front of the house to the living room where the wine room is. You will see dry wall where there are paintings along the wine room. Should I eliminate the dry wall and put glass alongside so as you are walking to the living room the wine room is a see-through show piece or just have the glass on JUST the front of the wine room?

I think in this case, less is more. I would keep the walls for art & just use glass or etched glass in the door if desired.
