I don't need to start and seeds, All I need is to know where y'all live, I can come by and steal all the plants I need, you guys would never miss them.

I really don't know what I will start, but I will be starting extra plants. Neighbor said the plants I gave him did better than the ones he bought. I don't know if that is completely true, but he did pretty well, especially with his sweet potatoes.

I have been out adding to the south garden. Jen, I was not as smart as you, I did not scrape the grass back, I am pretending the grass is compost and just tilling it in. Moni, there was a good bit of Bermuda in it also, but I will kill most of it out. I don't ever remember cleaning off a spot to make a garden. I just figure any victory I have over Bermuda grass is just going to be temporary anyway.

Larry, that's my husband's doing. He got to play with his new toy. I just gave him an excuse to dig in the dirt.

Jen, I understand, I am 78 years old and love playing with my toys also. I tell my wife that my neighbor and I are like two 10 year old boys on our bicycles. We both have atv's and run back and forth to each others gardens, then getting on our tractors and see how much dust we can stir up.

I have just planted what tomato seeds I had on hand, don't remember, most came from Nancy. I did buy a small pack of Best Boy, I have no idea what they are, they look to be a small tomato from the picture on the package. I need to stock up on tomato seeds, I normally buy from the Farmers Coop, but they have not been offering the 1 oz. packs for at least 2 years, maybe longer.

I have been out removing electric fence wire. I have not used the electric fence around the house gardens in 2 or 3 years. I just have the wire strung back and fourth between 2 post that use to be at the south end of the garden, the garden has grown now.

My gardens are so strange, the south garden is a little dry, the north garden is still too wet to do anything, and they are not over 40 yds apart.

Moni, I can diced tomatoes with the Jet Setters. Make sauce with the paste tomatoes....and can it. We cook a lot at our house and it's nice to have the homegrown tomatoes canned and ready.

The heirlooms really don't produce tons of fruit, so I like to eat those on sandwiches or for breakfast with my egg and toast.

The cherry tomatoes are used on/in salads. I've also shared a lot of those in the past. Last year they didn't produce as well.

If you don't eat a lot of tomatoes, I can see why you wouldn't want too grow many.

Just indoor sowed super beefsteak, cherokee purple, san marzano & roma VF. Also put in a couple of sungold for the kids to pick.

My favorite tasting tomato is probably the san marzano. Just something about it.

I found the list of my plants for this year, they are about ready to up-pot. I think I may need to feed them a little also. I used last years potting soil, it may be a little dead by now.

Looks like this is the year for dwarfs for me.

Jennifer, I've grown Jetsetter in the past, but I dont remember much about them?

I‘ve seen you comment about liking them for diced tomatoes and I’m curious as to what you like about them? I plan on canning more tomatoes this year, so I’m trying to finalize my growlist.

I am going to have to break down and order seed this year, I have not been able to fine tomato and pepper seeds in the one ounce packages from the Farmers Coop in the past few years. I would like to narrow my list down to no more than 6 or 8 kind ( maybe less ). I hate paying the same price for 20 or 30 seeds as I would pay for a 1/2 to 1 OZ package. I also don't have to start so many plants, but It is hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

Larry, the Jet Setter seemed to produce pretty well even though it was mostly neglected. It made tasty and pretty canned diced tomatoes. The first batch of fruit from the plants was a really nice size. They got smaller as the season went along. I'll try it again this year and see if I feel the same about it.

Jen, I got Hardin's Dwarf seed from you a couple of years ago. If you have any of those seeds left, try those out. I had 3 plants--2 in a raised bed and 1 in a Smart Pot. They produced a lot of fruit even at the end of the season when they were half dead. If it's too late this year, try it next year. It was the most productive dwarf one that I grew. I grew several dwarf varieties in 2020. (all of the seed came from you.)

My favorite tomato is Brandywine, but it is so slow and lazy I did not even start any seeds this year. I always seem to have Early Girl, even though the taste is not the best, but they are very dependable for me.

HJ, let me know if you want any more dwarf varieties. I did a tomato swap & got a ton of varieties, & looks like almost half were dwarfs. Might look & see if I have any more Hardin's, according to my notes it's only 70 DTM. Plus as a dwarf I could bring it inside come winter.

For cryin' out loud, Larry. Let me send you some more seeds, pepper and tomatoes. LOL --I'd be happy to. :) I have lots. I could get them sent tomorrow. PM me your address again. :) .

Being forced to plant a diff variety last year because I made a stupid mistake and lost all my plants, which were all Big Beef , turned into a good thing. Its inspired me to plant diff varieties again. I'd gone a lot of years with only Big Beef.

I'm gonna put about 20 in the ground this year, after curtailing back to only 10 last year. But I figure the heirlooms won't produce much and really, I've planted those varieties before without much success at all.

I planted seed mid Feb and the dang plants are already a foot tall. It seems I have this problem every year, they get too big. And when I plant seed doesn't seem to matter. Cause they're so big, I'm probably going into the ground this Friday and just be ready with the 5 gallon buckets and hope for mild freezes. That would be in the ground 7 to 10 days before I'd planned.
