Hmmm - nothing ventured…..? Maybe try planting in pot so you can easily keep a close eye on them. Hostas are tough so worth a try.

ETA - hard to see if each root section has an eye attached to it - that might be determining factor along with where they have been sitting until found.

Agree with KW, give it a whirl. I would put them in a pot with a good draining media (is it media or medium?). Make sure any eye or crown is above the media level.

One crown is mushy on the outside. (Paradign). Sieboldana Elegan has newroots on the roots.

Sounds like they’ve already had the equivalent step of ”throw them on the driveway” so there is no harm in trying. The mushy crown may be a goner.
