Is spring around the corner?

First winter here in WV and yes, we get overnight temps in the teens. The last snowstorm was more ice and only a thin layer of snow but the one before it gave us about 5 inches with a good layer of ice on top. End of this week we are suppose to go to 50F with rain. I know we are in for a bouncing of temps as we head toward March and the arrival of spring. How has it been for everyone?

It was in the 60's yesterday but Wed/Thurs they are predicting a new cold system to move through with up to 7 inches of snow/ice/sleet. We seldom get large amounts of snow like that so, myself along with 1/2 the panic stricken population, will be running to the grocery store today to stock up. I"m hoping they are wrong and it misses us...........Spring?? I'm still doing winter chores. Not ready yet for outside ones......... Just out of curiosity does anyone have Britbox on Amazon Prime and do you watch Monty Don? That's how I'm getting my flower fix this winter.............Maryl

It's in the 50s for three days this week before we take another arctic plunge and get a wintry mix on Thursday. This was the snowiest January here in more than 35 years. I'm ready for Spring, but I don't think Spring is coming anytime soon.

Our January was cold, but we had little snow. Those big snows that hit Kentucky and Tennessee missed us. We have gotten an inch or less on about 3 or 4 occasions.

That should all change this week. Today it will be mild--in the low 50s, but a wintry mix to snow is moving in on Wednesday and Thursday. Early predictions is 6 or above inches with some ice to complicate matters. After that we will have the coldest temps we have seen this winter.

I am mentally ready for spring (always am--I hate winter), but like Debra said, I don't think we are close. March here can be terrible too.

Sorry to hear your all in for the next storm. We are not and it looks like it will rain here however my sister in NYS who lived across the street from us is already under a winter storm watch from late Wed to Fri. They are predicting they could get 9 inches again.

Maryl: I watched Monty Don but not on Britbox. My daughter got me hooked on watching it on YouTube. I loved watching his show. I think PBS may have had it also but can't remember.

Julia,

You have been missing sub zero temps at night for about 2.5 weeks since your departure and at least a foot of snow with more on the way. We are expecting at least 9 more inches of the white stuff.

Ha,ha….good one! its been raining here all day, the back yard is a slushy mess. just waiting for the snow to start😣

David: Oh my, I am glad not to be there this winter. 9 inches typically means high snow drifts from the wind. Brrrr. At least you know your daylilies are snug under the snow. Knock on wood we haven't had it that bad here. Are you still a member of the Region 3 daylily group? I'm thinking of joining some type of garden club this year.
