Polished granite close to bullet proof the other good one is soapstone. IMO a nice butcher block is a lot better than any plastic quartz too.

This is a big topic and subject to personal preference. You will be able to find someone to advocate for any of the types of surfaces. There are articles on Houzz that compare and contrast, I suggest you start by reading them. There is no substitute for doing your own research. Then start going around and looking at the options. You will develop your own preference, and if you have a budget that will play into your choice also. If you have chosen cabinets or are using your existing cabinets, take a door around with you when you're looking at counter options.

Thanks

Granite is durable. I have it in my bathrooms. But, I didn’t want a shiny surface in the kitchen. After much research, we chose soapstone, a very hard variety, Belvedere. Purchased from, and fabricated by M. Teixeira, the largest supplier of soapstone in the US. It has beautiful green and white inclusions. After 6 years, no scratches, and no regrets. Highly recommend.

Thank you, I like that
